Paternity Test Case Studies- Case Study #9
Submitted by Paternityzone on Wed, 2006-08-09 21:01.
B. went into denial, but could never forget what her aunt had told her. Now B. wanted to know once and for all. She wanted to have a paternity test carried out but how could this be done without her father? B. has 3 older brothers who she knows are biologically related to the father. Her brothers DNA can be used to reconstruct that of her fathers. The reconstructed DNA can then be compared to DNA taken from B.
In the case of siblings of the same sex or half siblings, we recommend the X-STR-Test for sisters or the Y-Chromosome-Test for brothers.
Reconstruction: Father Deceased
B. is 56. Her parents passed away many years ago. A rumour she heard in her teenage years, that her father was not her biological father has troubled her all of her life. Her aunt confirmed the rumour and said that before B. was born, her mother had had an affair.
In the case of siblings of the same sex or half siblings, we recommend the X-STR-Test for sisters or the Y-Chromosome-Test for brothers.
